First off, every week I send home a red colored folder for our reading class. The title of the folder is R.E.D, which stands for read every day. Inside the folder families will find a stay home side with work from the week, a bring backside which includes a newsletter, one or two practice activities and a book on the students reading level. There is also a parent communication log in the middle to share information.
Students have an entire week to complete the work and can earn prizes for doin so. The homework I give is to show parents what we are working on and to give students work they can do easily.
To eleaviate some of the stress of paper work at home, I have cut back to a monthly newsletter.
What do you do to support child at home and keep parents in the loop and what success do you have?
